Shoreline, Lake Permit and HRP Information

The lands and waters of the Housatonic River Project encompass a total of 10,000 acres with 200 miles of shoreline.

The Shoreline Management Plan (SMP) for the Housatonic River Project was developed as a requirement of FirstLight’s license from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to generate power. Approved in March of 2013, the SMP provides guidance on shoreline management and permit requirements. Permits are required for the use of lands and waters within FirstLight Project Boundaries. FirstLight Land Management staff can advise you on acceptable uses and provide guidance through the application process.
